A new pill that will help control
blood sugar levels and cholesterol for people that have Type
diabetes was approved by a FDA advisory panel on Friday.
Developed from the
drug muraglitazar, Pargluva was developed by Bristol-Meyers
Squibb and Merck & Co. There
is some evidence that Pargluva could increase risk to those with
heart problems. In fact, the advocacy group Public Citizen
argued in a statement Friday that the drug was too risky. Still,
with an estimated 18 million people in the United States with
diabetes, more research is definitely worthy of Pargluva.
